Stillness & Rest
“So there remains a [full and complete] Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience... Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment].” -HEBREWS 4:9-11,16 AMP
I’ve been sitting in Hebrews 4 [The Believer’s Rest] for several days now. Being still in His presence, finding physical and spiritual rest for my soul. Pressing on to know the Lord (Hosea 6:3). Reflecting on all the goodness God has brought in 2017, the best year yet where I got to marry the love of my life. But also brought so much change. I have taken some time to slow down and just savor before pushing on to goals and plans for 2018.
To find Sabbath rest, to not continue on to works but look to Jesus and the work He finished on the cross. Being diligent to draw near to the throne of grace, having diligent to enter that rest with faith, not being passive, trusting, relying, clinging to Jesus. Knowing that His word is living and active, it changes our hearts, minds and lives- the Holy Spirit speaks to us and God is present with us. Press on to be present in His presence.
Be still & reflect before pressing on ahead.
